Established in 1962, food now operates 34 basketball stores and four lucky seven supermarket stores, and has 2,200 co-workers. This headquarters is located in Nederland, Texas.

Johnny Alfard, Ed Hughes, Howard Hatfield, Trinity and Bruce Thompson established the basket market in early 1962. Each of the independent producers owned each one. Five marketers joined together to reduce their low advertising costs and buy power. Three of the marketers remained a supermarket operator, while Hughes and Thompson formed 50 to 50 companies for joint expansion.

Thompson and Hughes bought the stores in the 1960s as partners. In the early 1970s, former stores A & P, Kroger and Weingarten were acquired at Lake Charles, Beaumont, Port Arthur and Orange. In 1983, Bruce Thompson bought his interest in his joint stock company.
